Most people in Nata know to avoid the post office around the fifth of the month. This is because everyone over the age of 65 is entitled to their government pension check. All the elders from all over the village come to line up and often wait for hours to receive their P180 per month. This amounts to about $38 U.S. dollars per month. Today there was only a small group. There will be many more tomorrow. I am always amazed at the patience that both postal clerks have on these difficult days. Today Bomo helped explain to the elders why we were taking the photos. Once they heard that people were helping the village they all asked to be photographed. Many of them use hand made canes made from tree branches. Despite their difficult lives they are still able to smile. They amaze me.

Two pensioners patiently wait for their P180
