Village kids show their team spirit

Were so happy to discover that teachers from the United States have found our blog and are using it as an educational tool. So today we want to say hello to all the students and teachers who are reading the blog. Weve read some of the blogs that the students have written and are amused at some of their comments. One eight grader said the people here are really poor because they dont have air conditioning. Most people here would be happy to just have electricity. Another was
shocked that some kids here dont have a store bought toy. Despite the hardships here, kids still figure out a way to have fun. The boys in the photo are big fans of the Zebras. The Zebras are the national football (soccer) team of Botswana. Whenever the Zebras play, everyone gets excited about it and the kids show their spirit by painting their chins the team colors. We are pleased that kids in the developed world are opening their minds to the hardships of others. The teachers are doing a fantastic job of educating their students. In the future, we will try to feature more stories of interest to the students.

Everywhere I go to speak to other teachers about using blogs in their classrooms and about involving students in the global realities of their world, it is your blog that I use as an example. Your RSS feed is required reading for the students in my grade 7 / 8 class. You do an excellent job bringing your realities to our privileged North American eyes. Thank You.
