Pictured above is Dr. Roger using our new fetal heart monitor for the very first time. Ladies in the developing world expect to hear the heartbeat of their unborn child and dad's get to be present at the sonogram when they see the baby for the first time. Not so in Nata. Up until today, a mother never got to experience anything like that. We thought the monitor was just going to give us a beep, beep, beep sound but instead the device allowed us to hear the whooshing sounds and the heartbeat of the fetus in the background. I wish you could have seen the look on our expectant moms face when she heard that sound!!! She was grinning ear to ear! It was amazing! We want to thank our expectant mom (who will remain anonymous) for letting us photograph the procedure. She is just over six months pregnant and a bit undersized in her development so it was with much relief that we all heard the strong heartbeat going at 150 per minute. Sue and Tony...this ones for you!! By the way, this mom tested for HIV and is thankfully negative.

this one literally brought tears to my eyes. Oh, how I wish every woman in Botswana could hear the beating heart of their unborn child. Truly a miracle!
