Today was an exciting day at Nata Primary School. All 700 students were present to see the presentation of the top ten winners of the Nata website essay contest. The topic was How HIV/AIDS has affected or could affect my life. Mr. Tiro handed out certificates, pens, pencils, post it notes, LRM bracelets and cash to the top ten finishers. There were over 100 entrants in the contest so the competition was very strong. Pictured above is first place winner Kedibonye Elijah being picked up by her mother when she was announced as the winner. Second place was Segopotso Robson, third place, Gaopalelwe Botshabelo, fourth place, Maria Thobo, fifth place, Obakeng Monthe, sixth place, Odirile Stephen, seventh place Ogomoditse Dingalo, eighth place, Ellen Motaung, ninth place, Tshepo Charles and tenth place was Samuel Kenneth. We used supplies donated by the LRM foundation to give to the teachers of standard 6 and standard 7 as they helped their students with their essays. We gave the remainder of the supplies to the headmistress to distribute as she feels best. It was a bitter sweet experience as more than one of the winners has recently lost a parent. It was very emotional as the headmistress said that the students were blessed. Your donations helped to mobilize this entire school and gave so much encouragement to all of them. Prize money total was about U.S.125.00. The next post will feature Kedibonye and her winning essay. Thanks to the headmistress and all the teachers at Nata Primary School. And of course, YOU the donors who made this possible.
