HAPPY 2 YR ANNIVERSARY WWW.NATAVILLAGE.ORG!

Happy_anniversary_1

On March 4, 2008 the Nata Blog celebrated its 2 year anniversary.  We will mark the occasion by letting you see the smiles you, the donor, have put on the faces of Nata villagers and give an overview of items purchased and future projects.  To date we have raised nearly $50,000.  You have purchased the following:

For Nata Clinic:  Benches, Fans, protective gowns, goggles, chairs, fetal heart monitor, digital blood pressure machine, medicines, office supplies, cleaning supplies, 2 otoscopes (for checking ears, nose, and throat) and an autoclave (to be delivered)

For Nata Youth:  A sound system and generator, sponsorship of youth activites, clothes, toiletries, toys, sponsorship of essay contest, school supplies, office supplies for Nata Primary School and food.

For People living with AIDS:  Transport to the ARV clinic (almost $2,000), uniforms, garden tools, special transport for medical needs outside the district, assistance with fund raising projects.

Christmas in Nata:  We sponsored two families with gifts and food and gave sweets to the entire village.

All purchases require quotations and the following projects are in the works and awaiting final approval:

Grass shade area for Nata Kgotla, Small shaded area for Kachikau ward as the headman has no shaded area to meet with residents, benches and shading at the Nata football field, sewing machine for Ntkwakgolo Support Group for income generation, new uniforms for Mabogo Arts and Culture Production, new floor for the Village Development Committee house, assistance (clothes, toiletries, and school supplies) for students living in the hostel, and we've just been notified of a $10,000 donation for a youth activity center and sponsorship for a local football team.  We are also ready to vote on a copy machine and fax machine for Nata clinic.  Its very difficult for the clinic to share critical information with other health providers without this basic office equipment.

Its been an amazing two years here in Nata.  You've really put us on the map.  The response has been overwhelmingly positive and we would like to thank all the donors and especially Nikki and Tony in Hong Kong and Bob and Rosalie from Canada.  Thanks to all of those in the beginning who were there for us: Ron of ICP, Rox in Hawaii, Omar, Duncan, Rocketboom (you really got us going!), and the LRM foundation.  We will always be grateful to Jon Rawlinson, our good samaritan traveler, and Mr. Seloma Tiro who made this website possible.  Thank you all!!!!!!!
