Nata Orphans Receive $500!!!

A big thank you to Bob and Rosalie of Canada.  They donated $500 to Nata village and want the money to go to the orphans of Nata.  Bob and Rosalie were traveling in Zanzibar where they met Melody who was on her annual leave.  They spent nearly a week together at the same small guest house and had many conversations about the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa.  We are all so frustrated that money donated to large organizations gets spent on nice 4x4 Land Rovers, five star hotels, and workshop after workshop.  We are not saying that these organizations don’t have a purpose and at times are helpful but the waste is what really drives us crazy.  Bob and Rosalie wanted to know that their donation was going straight to the kids.  Well let me assure you that it is.  I just met with the Social Worker and I’ve asked him to take me to the homes of the orphans most in need in Nata.  We are going to get shoe sizes, clothing sizes, and make an assessment of their most pressing needs.  With winter coming up, I’m sure they will need blankets too.  So, keep checking back as I promise I will photograph and document the kids receiving their goodies.  We will do our best to document every donation to the villagers.  Please realize that we are 120 miles from a store with quality merchandise; so, arranging transport and buying the things we need takes time and coordination but it will be done!!!
