Once again Nata village welcomes a new American Peace Corps representative.Mz Anneliese (aka Tshegofatso or “Grace”) Stephenson – Wenn arrived in Nata Village at the end of October to replace Mz Shapiro who has returned to the USA .Tshegofatso is extensively involved in the HIV/ AIDS programme in Nata and is based at the Nata clinic where she will motivate their Outreach and Motivation programmes. She is also involved in teaching life skills at the Nata Senior School and was allocated class 40 by Mma Selema a teacher at the school. She is also involved in assisting the Nata Widows and Orphans Trust to obtain wheelchairs for those individuals requiring assistance by coordinating efforts by them, the Department of Social Welfare and Rotary international, Francistown. Another programme is the Women’s Support Group called “Ladies Talk”. Their objective is to provide a forum for women to talk about life’s problems, sexual health, and job skills etc. She graduated in May 2013 from California State University, Monterey Bay after majoring in Biology with a pre - med concentration. Tshegofatso tells us she is open to all ideas to help eradicate HIV/AIDS epidemic, lack of employment and the general upgrading of the living standards of all people, including school children who are vulnerable to negative peer pressures.
